Meeting Time & Place Changed:
Church is on Saturday Evening, March 14th, 6:30pm
5425 Martindale Rd. Shawnee, KS.
Hey everyone, as many of you have already noticed, Olathe Public Schools has canceled rentals for the next two weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which would normally mean we couldn't have church.
While we take the situation seriously, we don't believe it is necessary to cancel church right now. The good news is, it looks like we're going to be able to have church on Saturday nights at our new building. The church there is being really gracious, and letting us rent from them.
We'll have service tomorrow March 14th, from 6:30 pm to about 7:45 pm. The address is 5425 Martindale Rd, Shawnee, KS. Because we'll be in another church’s building, we want to observe the same level of care and respect we show the school we currently meet at.
We will take extra precautions in our children's areas, washing hands frequently, using Lysol, etc. If you or your children have a fever or flu like symptoms, we ask that you to stay home. If you are concerned about being out in public in general, please do not feel pressure to come.
In situations like this, it can be difficult to discern faith from presumption. One way to tell the difference is to ask ourselves if we’re trying to prove something. If we’re trying to prove something to God, ourselves, or someone else, we’re not in faith. We don’t believe we are trying to prove something by having church. We are aware of what is happening but feel that yielding to fear and panic is the opposite of our calling.
Despite the current situation, we live in the safest era of human history. It’s good to remind ourselves of that and the great blessings we experience every day. I have total confidence that this situation, though serious, will be resolved and life will go on. Jesus is Lord over death, hell, and disease. This virus does not come from Him. We ask you to join us in prayer for its swift defeat, and the recovery of all those afflicted.
Additionally, let us all remember that crisis moments are when we’re meant to demonstrate the love of Jesus the brightest. We cannot afford to turn inward, to become selfish, to put ourselves before others. We must continue to reach out in love, serve those around us, and demonstrate the Kingdom.
Molly and I love you, are praying for you, and are praying for our world. Don’t be dismayed! We know how the story ends! Let us know if you have questions.
Blessings!
